Our Rector Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Dalgar stated at the meeting that as a university without barriers, one of the most important issues they prioritize is finding solutions to the problems of students and staff with special needs. He listened to the students' individual problems and requests and chatted with them. Emphasizing that such meetings and gatherings are important in creating awareness, he said, “I am very happy to be with you. You, our valuable students with special needs, always have a special place for us, and our university will mobilize all the resources of our state to ensure you receive the best education possible. You are entrusted to us by this nation and state. We see it this way first and foremost, and your special needs are not just your problem but a responsibility of this society. Therefore, please do not hesitate to request whatever is necessary for you to achieve the best education. Our Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Top is also eager and concerned about these issues at our university. This unit may not have been very active until now, but from now on, I want to meet with you more often and listen to you more. I wish you all success. Our university loves you. We will do our best to ensure your comfort and to tolerate the difficulties you face due to these special needs. Please be at ease about this. Do not hesitate to convey your requests to us. Never feel excluded. This would upset us greatly, I must state this first. In our eyes, you are always like our children and siblings. I thank my colleagues who contributed to us being together today.”
The meeting ended with the students' requests and suggestions for MAKÜ to be barrier-free in all its units.
